Plan Your Trip

Choose a destination that appeals to everyone in your party. There are so many points of interest in Australia that you are sure to find one that everyone agrees with.

When you plot your route don’t push too hard or set unrealistic expectations. The joy of caravanning is taking it slow and easy and enjoying the trip.  Plan on rest stops, breaks and other pauses that let you enjoy the trip

Prepare Your Caravan

Before you hit the road, make sure everything is in working order. Test all of your caravan’s systems and ensure everything is functioning. If you need a new caravan water pump, for example, order one and get it installed before you set out on your journey.

Plan Your Budget

Realize that it’s easy to spend money when you are out on the road. Keeping a journal of your expenses can help you stay within your budget.

Of course, every trip is filled with unexpected expenses so allow for that before you head out. You don’t want to ruin your trip, because you’re worrying about finances.

Be Prepared For The Unexpected

Realize that not everything will go according to plan. There will be disruptions, delays and other possible inconveniences.  Revel in them.  Find a way to make the best. If you have a breakdown, spend time exploring an out of the way town or location. Find a quaint restaurant. Talk to people, make new friends.  Enjoy your time and make the best of every situation.

Pack Wisely

Don’t overpack. Keep things simple. Sturdy shoes, warm clothes, rain gear, shorts, and comfortable clothes are the order of the day.

Don’t forget camping gear, outdoor cooking gear, bicycles, games and other articles to keep you busy and entertained during the hours you will spend around your campfire.

Go At Your Own Pace

Don’t forget this is a time for you to slow down and experience a slower pace than what you may be used to.

Don’t get frantic about not keeping a schedule. Take your time and enjoy exploring new places and meeting new people.

Do Your Research

Do your homework on the areas you most want to visit. If you want to visit a national park be sure to go online and purchase your park pass in advance. You don’t want to arrive at your destination and find that it’s full or not available.

A caravan trip is a great way to spend your vacation and see different parts of the country. It is affordable and allows you to meet new people and explore new places.

It won’t take long before you feel right at home and discover a great new way to explore your country.
