First off, can you tell us about yourself and how you got started in photography? My name is Dan Brady. I’m a fashion & beauty photographer based in Perth, Western Australia. Photography is only a recent line of achievement for me. My wife is a Make-Up Artist. Sometime ago she needed images for her portfolio. We could see it was going to be an ongoing process, therefore I decided to learn about photography.

Dan, how would you describe your photography style? I enjoy shooting cinematic images. The use of different lighting techniques that are challenging makes me feel rewarded when the job is complete.

What is your goal? I look forward to showing my art on a larger scale.

What are the biggest challenges being a photographer? Finding time to practice. There is only so much theory you can do before you need to actually go out with trial and error in mind.

What fascinates and motivates you most being a photographer? Getting the most out of my creative team.

What makes a great fashion photograph? Tell us a secret. What helps to achieve that one killer shot of the day? Knowing well before the shoot, what you plan to achieve. You need to meticulously plan the images out in your head before the shoot. Visualizing what you hope to achieve on the day is a main element to me.

Tell us your favorite shooting location(s) and why? I started off shooting heavily in the studio. I found the controlled lighting situation was far easier to learn from than going outdoors and having to factor in so many other unknowns. Currently we’re making the best of Australia’s summer season and shooting on location at luxury mansions.

To your opinion, how beauty is perceived at present age?  What does beauty mean to you personally and what really makes woman beautiful? I feel that beauty has moved from being a shallow perspective. It is more now about the person’s actions as opposed to being based on their genetic structure.

What type of models do you prefer to shoot with? Why? I much rather work with a model who has a courteous and professional attitude.

Where can fashion professionals see more of your works? Most certainly follow me on Instagram: danbrady.co

What do you like to do when you are not behind a camera? I enjoy spending time with my young family.

What is your motto? I recently saw a quote, and it meant a lot to me. “When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left and could say, I used everything you gave me.” ~ Erma Bombeck

Thank you, Dan.
