Designer’s statement:
“What was trash to one
by another may be treasured
I created a design
in an effort to make our environment better
A skirt and pants made of bags
splattered with black, and painted with gold
A corset made of wrapping paper
appliqued with magazines that were old
string laced through
soda can tabs and safety pins
to pull it together
and cinch it in
a choker made from a zipper
tied at the nape of her neck
What you can make with waste
you’d never expect”
