Three Unique Shopping Experiences to Take in on Your Travels

Whether you’re indulging in a spot of retail therapy or out to find the perfect gift for a loved one, where you choose to shop can dramatically alter the experience – and the price tag!

In recent years, we’ve shopped online more and more. Invesp estimates that 8.8% of our global retail spending was online in 2018, with the UK leading the way at 18%. However, while clicking or tapping your way to a purchase might be practical at times, it can’t provide the same sense of fun as hitting the stores.

That’s why we’ve put together this quick luxury shopping guide, highlighting three of the most exclusive shopping experiences available around the world. Wherever you plan to travel, take in these streets and stores to experience the best of the best while you shop.

Three Unique Shopping Experiences
London

In London, there’s no other shop quite like Harrods. In fact, there’s no other shop quite like Harrods in Europe – its 1.1 million square feet of retail space make it the largest department store in the entire continent.

Located on Brompton Street in Knightsbridge, Harrods is known around the world for its Christmas department, food hall and on-site dining experiences. However, there’s plenty more for shoppers to experience, with a total of 330 departments spread across the five-acre site.

Knightsbridge is also home to the flagship Harvey Nichols store. The upscale department store was founded in 1831 and is best known for its fashion collections, accessories, and beauty products. The store also offers some outstanding dining experiences – the restaurant at Christmas time is a particularly magical experience.

Just a 15-minute walk away, on Regent Street, Hamleys – the world’s oldest toy store – is the third must-visit London store. It’s not just children who will delight in the Hamleys experience – most adults can’t help but be charmed by the store’s joyful presence either!

Paris

Just across the Channel in France, nowhere exudes style quite like Paris’ Avenue des Champs-Élysées. If you want world-famous luxury brands, this is the place to come, and there’s no better store to start with than Louis Vuitton. Known for its pricey monogrammed handbags and superb luggage collections, the store is a favourite with shoppers around the world who want to travel in style.

Another must-visit store on the Champs-Élysées is Galeries Lafayette. This upscale department store offers a unique shopping experience, with 150 personal stylists available daily to ensure that customers can enjoy the very best of the store’s luxury fashion brands, fine watches and jewellery.

Of course, if it’s high-end fashion that you’re after, then no visit to the Champs-Élysées would be complete without spending time in the Chanel boutique. Coco Chanel revolutionised the overly fussy clothes of 19th-century fashion with her elegant designs and simple cuts. Today, the brand continues to honour that legacy and is known globally for its iconic, beautiful haute couture. And nowhere is that more evident than in this store at the heart of Paris’ fashion industry.

New York

If you’re looking for exclusive shopping experiences around the world, then New York also demands a place on your itinerary. Along Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, you can shop for designer clothes, bags, shoes and jewellery to your heart’s content. There’s enough here to satisfy even the most serious shopaholic.

According to Lottoland’s luxury shopping guide, Prada, Armani and Fendi are three of the luxury brands that shoppers can enjoy while strolling along Fifth Avenue. All three offer boutique shopping experiences that will delight fashionistas and distress those footing the bill!

And that’s it! Time to ditch the online shopping apps and head out in the real world to shop like a pro. There are plenty more luxury shopping destinations out there. Which is your favourite?
