Do you think that society would be different if photography was never invented? Well, I cannot imagine nobody would have invented something like photography; we will do painting; but for sure world would be different;

You have a unique style. Can you talk a bit about the importance of a photographer’s style, and how did you develop your style? Others should speak about your style but judging ourselves is quite difficult; so happy every time someone sees one of my pictures and recognizes what I do;

What do you enjoy photographing most? Women.

How do you keep productive and retain your creative edge? Noting ideas; Moving to exhibition of paintings, looking around me, consulting some magazines and many books; Listening a lot of music, as music and lyrics remain my food for creation;

What does beauty mean to you as a photographer? When you’re working with a model, how important is communication during a shoot? Beauty is everything …but beauty is more the way you look at someone or something than a rational aspect of it; I think beauty is like love… if you love something or someone it becomes beautiful; It is always cool to see the difference between a before shooting, before MUA worked, before you setup the proper light and atmosphere and indications.. and the after; I’m not a big fan of Photoshop creation, so for me 90% of work is during the shoot; Communication is at the beginning; Then comes indication for position, attitude, directions where to look and how;

Marc, what is your mental checklist before a shoot? Is there something you always ask yourself/think just before you press the shutter button? Checklist becomes really different from a pilot, more automatism; however I always force to look at details on the makeup change, dress, and people around that can spoil a photography;

What have been the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome as a photographer? I would say two challenges: Every time you publish something you can be quite sure that someone somewhere will try to do the same instead of reinterpreting in ones own way; The second challenge is when you get 10 person on stage including fire eaters, 8 women bodypainting that takes hours to do and then to getting series of shoot done; More people on stage more complexed is the coordination and preparation;

What’s the project you are most proud of? What has been your most memorable moment in your career so far? Wining price , magazine cover and getting invited as “guest” for exhibition is always a very positive time that awards the hard work; Recently being part of the fashion/beauty 10 finalist, it is the highest contest in this area, the Hasselblad Master for the 2016 year, it’s a marvelous time;

What projects are you working on next, and what are your goals for the future? Next project will get about future, with 2050 fashion look; but I still continue my series of the outside beauty.

In your opinion, what role image editing programs play in today’s photography? What are advantages and disadvantages of using it? Indispensable in some case for Studio; I love Lightroom and used only this tool for editing; Photoshop is good for skin retouch; If I could avoid any tool I would be happy; I like extensive creation in photography not in post-work; Nowadays too many people think everything is to be done or done in post-work; I hate it. And I love when people think a picture is made out of creation in Photoshop; however it just came out of the camera body with some color and contrast adjustments in Lightroom.

What advice do you have for people that might consider photography as a career? Resilience; and good connections; Create your own way, and have a real commercial sense that matter so much;

Where can we hear more from you or see more of your work? You can find my photography on www.marclamey.com and follow me on wwww.facebook.com/marclameyphotography.
