Can you tell us the most exciting moment in your career, and looking back, what was the hardest? Hardest part was realizing not everyone will like you, even when you are genuine and have good intentions. The most exciting part, besides traveling the world, would be realizing that I’m still good enough without them.

How would you define success and how would you measure it? Success is when time meets preparation. I believe that so much to be true. Success to me personally is measured in my own feeling of accomplishment. I am methodical mostly and this makes it meaningful.
From your point of view, is there anything you would change about the modeling industry if you could? Well, I do believe the modeling industry is amazing and so creative, I’m very thankful there is a spot for girls like me to be able to find work. However, if I could change one thing it would be for some of the large commercial companies to embrace diversity and inclusion.
What are you currently working on, and what do you have planned next? Currently I’m working on advocating in other parts of the world that need a visible voice in their mainstream media. Luckily for me foreign press embraces my trips abroad. Australia, Ireland, England, Columbia, Mexico, and Brazil have been very good to me.
It is not a secret that social media such as Instagram are as important as building up professional portfolio these days. What would you advice a young model/actress working toward building her social media profile? Be honest, be raw, be real.
Do you have any beauty/skin care tips or tricks to look fresh and rested as you always look? Rest is very important not only for your body but also your mind. Finding peace within your soul is the beginning of the path to self wellness. That goes for diet, skin care, and exercise. One tip that I can give is to never skip washing your face.
What advice would you have to a person who is very conscious of his/her body? Channel the energy into doing something right for your body. I am very familiar with what it feels like to not be comfortable in your own skin. Usually investing energy in your own wellness pulls me out of a negative self-conscious vibe.
What is Carmen Carrera obsessed with that people might be surprised to learn? I am obsessed with 90’s movies!
One thing that bugs Carmen Carrera about humans is that…? Humans have learned to hate before they love. We destroy what is foreign and judge from a place of insecurity. Understanding and empathy is what we lack.
What era would you like to bring back? I’d like to bring back Mariah Carey 1993.
Thank you, Carmen.
