From face to nails, there are a lot of eco-friendly products that everyone can use and look even more beautiful and save the Earth at the same time. Here are some ways you can accomplish that.

Face

• Stop using make-up remover wipes

Just like all wet wipes, the makeup or cleansing ones are piling up in landfills and badly harming the planet because most of them aren’t sustainable and biodegradable. Because many companies are aware that they have started making makeup towels. They are like washcloths, but more practical and eco-friendly. You just have to get them wet, and by scrubbing it in your face you are removing all the makeup and dirt, cleansing and exfoliating your face. After a couple of uses, all you need to do is put it in the washer and keep reusing it.

• Update your eyeshadow collection

Containers and packaging that most of the beauty products come in to make up for shocking 30% of the junk that is on the landfills. Talking about swapping your large eyeshadow palettes that are made out of plastic and cardboard. Let’s be honest, out of all the colors in the palette most of us use only a few of them. So by having single eye-shadows that you actually use instead of having a couple of large pallets, you are not only cutting down on the waste, you are also saving money and space in your makeup bag.

There are a lot of brands that make single eye-shadows that are magnetic so you can make your own eyeshadow palette of colors you will actually use.

• Use Bamboo brushes

As we mentioned before, because companies are being more eco-friendly there are many options you can choose from. Most of them are made out of renewable bamboo and recycled aluminum, they are certified by PETA, vegan and cruelty-free. Also, the packaging in which they come in is made of 100% tree-free paper.

Hair

• Use dry shampoo

Using dry shampoo instead of washing your hair more than twice a week, will save up to 20 gallons of water per week. But not all of them are made that are eco-friendly. Most of them are in aerosol cans and have propane and isobutane that are bad to breathe in, and on top of that the cans can be recycled and they go to the hazardous waste place. You should look for ones that have reusable packaging and ones that are made from natural products.

• Water-saving showerheads

There are specially made water-saving showerheads. They are made from eco-friendly materials and have micro nozzle technology. It has smaller and denser holes, and they increase the speed and pressure of the water flow and therefore reducing your water usage up to 30%.

Nails

• Pick the right nail polish

Most polishes have a chemical which is called plasticizers that makes the color stay on your nail. But the problem with that is that is also used to paint cars. The worrying part is that those chemicals pass through your nail bed into your bloodstream. Therefore, all the ingredients that are used in the nail polish should be listed on the label, so carefully read it and watch out for toxic ingredients. Nowadays there are many companies like Jessica Cosmetics that make cruelty-free and vegan nail polishes. These nail polishes are made for natural nail care, they are hydrating, protecting, long-lasting and durable.

• Use bamboo Q-tips

Most people aren’t aware that plastic q-tips are one of the worst offenders in plastic pollution, they pose the worst danger to the environment and animals. Q-tips end up in the oceans in which they endanger marine life. There are two eco-friendly ways you can go with. You can choose to go for reusable silicone ones that are super simple to use, you just wash them with soap and warm water. If you don’t like the silicone ones you can choose bamboo ones, they are 100% made from cotton and bamboo.

• Don’t use glitter

You might think that glitter is harmless, but you’re wrong it is really bad for the environment because its made out of microplastic. Eco-friendly version is made out of eucalyptus and that makes it not only biodegradable but it will also be much smoother than plastic.

No action is too small when it comes to having an eco-friendly lifestyle. You have to feel good about the product you are using while protecting the Earth.
