The Best Holiday Destinations for 2020

When looking for a travel destination, we are usually offered the same old places, the usual tourist traps… For 2020, you should consider some new spots that can broaden your horizons and provide you with some great new experiences. Regardless of why you love to travel, take the following destinations into account for your next vacation.

travel destinations to consider

Estonia

In case you are looking for a European destination but have already visited the Mediterranean hotspots, seen the architecture of Central Europe and explored Scandinavia, it might be time to start heading a little further east and consider Estonia. This country, on the Baltic Sea, has so much to offer but is often overlooked due to its size and thanks to some of its more famous neighbors. Once you get there, you must look for the finest dining in Tallinn and try their cuisine that prides itself on being fresh, clean and organic. If you are an outdoorsy person, you’ll love to hear that they are one of the greenest countries on the planet and that all camping facilities are free, meaning that you will have no issues enjoying their untouched natural beauty. Plus, Estonia has free Wi-Fi everywhere, so it will be super easy to post cool snaps of your activities on Instagram!

Kyushu, Japan

As Tokyo will be hosting the 2020 Summer Olympic Games, you can expect Japan to be full of tourists this year. However, if you’re determined to see this country, you can visit other parts that have just as many interesting attractions but are a bit less crowded. For instance, why not explore Kyushu, Japan’s third-largest island? Apart from the unique yatai food stalls and delicious local dishes, the island is packed with adventure opportunities. You can climb some active volcanoes, take a boat to a nearby island and explore the local wildlife or visit one of the onsen towns. Finally, Kyushu is home to the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum and Nagasaki National Peace Memorial Hall and in 2020, they are marking 75 years since the faithful bombing happened.

Niagara Falls

If you’re considering North America as your travel destination, one stop you must not miss out on is Niagara Falls – actually, make it the centerpiece of your trip. Niagara Falls, located on the border between the U.S. and Canada, is one of the ancient wonders of the world. First-time visitors often expect to see only a gorgeous waterfall surrounded by nature but, seeing as how the tourism industry is constantly growing, it’s only normal for the area to be filled with all sorts of facilities that cater to the tourists. From amusement parks and butterfly conservatories to wineries, restaurants and nightclubs, there is a lot to see at Niagara Falls. Additionally, other than a boat cruise, you can also get a bird’s eye view of the falls by going on a helicopter tour.

São Tomé and Príncipe

One of the world’s least-visited countries, São Tomé and Príncipe is a two-island nation located in the Gulf of Guinea. While this place might be a bit hard to reach, its worth making an effort seeing as how you are sure to enjoy the extraordinary scenery that includes volcanic landscapes and jungle peaks. What is more, being the biodiversity hotspot that it is, you will also be able to see plenty of endemic plants such as orchids and 10-foot-tall begonias as well as a wide variety of the wildlife – marine turtles, the world’s largest sunbird and the world’s smallest ibis. You will also get to go hiking, sunbathe on stunning beaches, rest in beautifully situated nature resorts and learn about their history.

Lake District, Chile

To explore a truly diverse landscape, you should most certainly add the Chilean Lake District to your bucket list. With activities that range from volcano climbing and mountain biking to fly-fishing and sailing, every day in this place allows you to do something different. You can enjoy national parks, nature reserves and lakeside villages while trying out their delicious seafood and quality wines. Plus, if you decide to visit the town of Pucón in December of 2020, you will get to witness a total solar eclipse.

Hopefully, one of these five destinations has intrigued you and you will decide to visit it, this year. On the other hand, you can always choose visiting Middle East region. For example, Turkish culture and tourism are breaking world records as a top travel destination where natural beauty, historical sites, food culture and hospitality will never disappoint you. However, regardless of which continent and country you choose to visit, if you do your research properly and ensure there are things to see and do there that are of interest to you, you are sure to have a great time. Bon voyage!
