Sports Events You Should See At Least Once

Over the last year, many of us have missed one thing in particular: sport. With sporting events put on hold and audiences kept out of stadiums, it’s no wonder many of us are itching to get back to spectating.

When you are eventually allowed back into the arenas, you may be wondering what the best sporting events are to watch, so you can kick things off with a bang.

To help you decide, we’ve rounded up the sporting events we think you should see at least once.

sports events

Wimbledon

A summer spectacle not to miss, Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and attracts the best tennis players in the world competing for their title. Held in the Wimbledon area of London, spectators can expect to eat strawberries and cream whilst sipping on champagne.

If you’re looking to attend Wimbledon, you’ll need to book your tickets in advance and figure out a way to get there. As its in London, you’re best off getting the train there and back.

The Super Bowl

No round up of the best sporting events would be complete without a reference to the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is the annual championship of the National Football League (NFL) in the US.

Adored by many Americans and fans across the world, Super Bowl spectators watch the best football teams in North America battle it out to become champions.

Not only is there a great football match to watch, but there is also a legendary half time show where celebrity A listers and performers take to the stage to entertain the crowd. This year Canadian performer The Weeknd took to the stage to deliver an epic performance.

The Olympics

If you’re lucky enough to get tickets, the Olympics is a must-see sporting event. Consisting of 35 different sports and more than 400 events, the Olympics is an impressive sporting event. Whether you’re into boxing, athletics or swimming – there are sports for everyone to enjoy.

The next Olympic tournament is due to be held in Tokyo, Japan. So if you’re hoping to go, you’ll need to hop on a plane to get there.

Wife carrying contest

If more traditional sports don’t tickle your fancy, then why not go and watch something completely different? Namely, the wife carrying contest in Finland.

First held in Sonkajärvi, the wife carrying contest does what it says on the tin! Contestants carry their wives around a 253m obstacle course in a race to finish in the fastest time.

The only rules: the wives must be over 17 years of age and weigh over 49 kilos.

And there you have it! Although there are so many different sports to go and see, you can’t go far wrong with any of the above four sports.
