Six Things You Should Do if You Plan to Live On-Campus

University life is a magical time. Some even say that it’s the last part of your life where you experience true fun. After that, you will have increased responsibilities and decreased mental health. That’s why it’s important to make the best out of this period and live it to its full extent. In order to that, you must live in an on-campus hostel. Here are a few things you should know if that’s a part of your plan and you want to make the most out of this experience.

Things You Should Do if You Plan to Live On-Campus

Register Place in On-Campus Hostel ASAP

There are limited seats in university hostels, and it doesn’t take long before they are all reserved. If you really plan on living on-campus, which you should, it’s best to register a place for yourself as soon as possible. You will be sharing your room with one or two more people. It’s not very difficult to find a hostel outside, but it doesn’t have the fun experience to offer that you get inside the campus.

Get a Bicycle for Travel

It takes time to travel inside or outside the campus in a car. It takes even more time on local transport. Even with a car of your own, you will have extra expenses to bear. This is the reason why many students and teachers choose to get a bicycle. You can see online e bikes that best match your taste and budget. It will not only save you time but also gas and local transport expenses.

Look for On-Campus or Near Job

Students are always short of money. There are just too many things to spend money on. If nothing else, you might have to throw small parties to build and maintain a good network. You should try to look for jobs on-campus as soon as you settle there. Jobs like an assistant librarian or teacher assistant will not only pay but also offer a lot to learn.

Test the Hostel Mess

You might have heard many students complain about the bad quality of food in hostels’ mess. First of all, you should know that it isn’t always the case. You can only for sure after you try it, but many university hostel messes charge you in advance for an entire year. It’s best to first somehow test or get reviews about their food before you pay for the full year. Otherwise, you will have to find a good place that offers affordable and good food near or on the campus.

Join Societies and Clubs

You will find extracurricular opportunities with sororities, fraternities, literary societies, and sports clubs. Try to get into a good house and join the groups that interest you most. Not only will it enhance your student life experience, but you will also get to learn many new things and build a good network. These activities and people also open doors to many opportunities for you. On top of all, you will have a lot fun spending time with like-minded people.

Create a Routine for Yourself

You will have studies, robust social life, a job, and probably many extracurricular activities to do every day. It won’t be easy to actively take part and focus on each when you are trying to manage them all at the same time. If you don’t want to leave any of them and get their full experience, you will have to create a practical timetable and strictly follow it. This routine should be easy and flexible and give you plenty of time for yourself, or you won’t be able to follow it for long.
