During this treatment, the dark circles and fine lines around your eyes will be reduced or eliminated. Your pores will become unclogged while your skin tone will become brighter as well.

All these benefits will help you have healthier, more beautiful, and younger-looking skin.

There are, however, a number of dos and don’ts that you have to remember to get the most from the treatment. These post-facial care tips will also allow you to have glowing skin for weeks. More importantly, they will help you avoid irritations and other side effects.

Dos

1. Keep Your Skin Hydrated

To get the most benefits from your facial, drink plenty of water after getting the treatment.

By doing so, you will help your body flush out toxins. This will give your face that healthy, glowing complexion.

Additionally, when you are adequately hydrated, your skin cells will be sufficiently stimulated, enabling them to absorb nutrients better. This will help you retain your post-facial radiance longer.

Aside from drinking eight glasses of water per day, try to eat fruits with high water content. Examples of these are apricots, blueberries, peaches, plums, pineapples, and apricots.

2. Be Gentle When Washing Your Face

Never wash your face after getting a facial. If you do, you won’t get the full benefits of this treatment.

You can wash your face the day after you got a facial. However, use only a gentle, hydrating cleanser when washing your face. This is because your skin will be extra sensitive after the treatment.

To avoid harming the skin barrier, skip serums and toners at least five days after visiting the spa, clinic, or wellness center.

Also, be gentle when drying off. Do not rub your face; simply press or pat your skin lightly with a towel.

3. Use a Vitamin C Serum

To prolong the effects of your facial treatment, add applying vitamin C to your skincare routine.

A vitamin C serum will help keep your skin tone balanced and radiant. Additionally, it will boost collagen production, which will help you fight wrinkles and fine lines.

Moreover, with this skincare product, you will protect your skin against the harsh effects of pollution, extreme temperatures, and free radicals. This will also extend the benefits of your facial.

4. Skip Workouts

Avoid going to the gym or engaging in any extreme workout after getting a facial. The increased heat and sweat can burn and irritate your skin.

Also, the equipment in a commercial gym is covered with germs. If you touch your face after handling these machines, you will irritate your skin.

Instead, to keep yourself busy for couple of days after facials, you can allow yourself reading a good book, find free online courses or simply explore online gaming possibilities on stare gry hazardowe za darmo to kill your boredom.

If you can’t miss working out, do so the day before getting a facial.

5. Avoid Wearing Makeup

Even if your face looks red and blotchy after getting a facial, avoid putting on makeup.

This is because your pores are more open or larger than usual. As such, they are more susceptible to bacterial infections.

Because of this, avoid wearing makeup and other skincare products such as creams and peelers for a day or two. And while you’re taking a break from your beauty enhancing routines, clean all your makeup sponges and brushes or replace them so that they don’t cause a breakout when you start using them again.

Don’ts

6. Touch Your Skin

No matter how much you want to feel how soft and supple your skin is after your facial, avoid running your fingers or hands over your skin.

As already mentioned, your pores will be more open than usual, so your skin will be extra sensitive as well. When you touch them with your dirty hands, you will become more prone to irritation and infections.

Because of this, keep your hands off your face after getting a facial treatment.

7. Pick at Your Skin

If there are a few blackheads, whiteheads, or pustules remaining on your face after the process, don’t pop them at home. If you touch or squeeze these, you will spread bacteria and likely scar your skin.

Also, keep in mind that your esthetician has a reason for leaving these blemishes untouched. If the blackhead or whitehead is not close enough to the surface yet, it can’t be extracted safely. If they are forced out, your skin may get more damaged.

If you want to get rid of these blemishes, schedule a follow-up appointment with your esthetician or facialist.

8. Stay Under the Sun Too Long

Going to the beach or sunbathing should be the last thing on your mind after getting a facial. Avoid playing tennis or going for a run when the sun is at its hottest as well.

Since your skin was exfoliated, it is more sensitive and susceptible to the harmful effects of UV rays. As such, stay out of the sun as much as possible. Avoid sunbeds as well.

If you need to go out during the day, wear a wide-brimmed hat. And don’t forget to apply sunscreen before going out a day or two after your treatment.

9. Go to the Sauna or Steam Room

Heading to the sauna or steam room may seem like a great way to end your pampering day. However, it isn’t a good idea to do so.

This is because your skin has already been exposed to high amounts of steam during your facial. If you spend even a few minutes inside a steam room, you will be at higher risk of developing irritation and broken capillaries.

If you want to spend time inside the sauna, do so before getting this treatment.

10. Get a Hair Removal Treatment

Lastly, avoid scheduling waxing, threading, or laser hair removal after undergoing a facial.

Since most facials include deep exfoliation, the hair removal treatment will over-exfoliate your skin. This, in turn, can burn your fresh complexion.

Aside from ruining and leaving your skin blemished, the hair removal procedure can also cause some discomfort.

If you need to have your peach fuzz removed or your eyebrows shaped, whether by waxing, threading, shaving, or laser, schedule it at least three days after your facial.

To have radiant, soft skin that can last for weeks, follow the tips above to maximize the results of your facial. And always get this treatment from a well-known beauty and wellness center so that a trained esthetician or facialist will handle the procedure safely and expertly.
