Charlotte, how did you get your start as a model? I live in France, in the South of France. I had my first photoshoot about 4 years ago. It happened by a chance, a photographer in my town asked me to try, she guided me, and I never stopped posing later. Currently I have about 3 to 5 shoots per month. I travel a lot in France for my photoshoots. It’s my passion because I love meeting new people and going from town to town is very pleasant.

You have an amazing portfolio and you have worked on so many projects as a model. Which of the projects you have worked on are you most proud of and why? I would say I am proud of all my projects! Because all projects gave me something, something positive all the time, to my mind it helped me to progress. All photosessions are different and I am proud of each.

What keeps you excited about modeling? The result! The most beautiful thing for me is to receive and view pictures, and some are very unique, very emotional sometimes, surprising, full of bursts of laughter, that’s the most extraordinary thing. The best thing is to receive fruits of a hard teamwork and to see results of concentrated work.

As far as photographers, who have been some of the best that you met or worked with? How important is it to have an established relationship with the photographer who captures your image? I have no preference, but the shoots that are filled with on good sense of humor are the best. Photosession is a collaboration between a model and a photographer, you must communicate, know each others expectations depending on the concept of the shot, model must understand directions very well. I really worked with many photographers, and I have never had any difficulty to adapt myself to each of them, it is also necessary to be sociable and be serious at the same time.

Do you always encompass a character when you go on set? What are your favorite genres & styles of modeling? I can easily adopt different character, also according to the wish of the photographer. My favorite style is glamor, I still love a sensual side. I had done a lot of styles to test me and see what comes out of me… I prefer the glamor and expressing my soft side of my personality.

When do you feel most glamorous? I feel most glamorous when my actions cohere with sweetness of my face. That’s when I feel myself the most glamorous. Lingerie shoots can also be very glamorous. I do love glamor photography.

What do you find the most challenging part about working as a model? The hardest part is to stay focused, remain in the same position for a long time until the shoot is finished. It is hard when you must look good even when you’re not in shape (laughs), often change gestures, expressions and do eveything in professional manner without expressing tiredness.

How do you keep your confidence up? Photos help me to keep my confidence a lot. I often look at my pictures and I say “wow it’s you!”. I am often surprised seeing myself in sublime photos and this makes me feel confident during all shoots.

So what was the first thing you learned as a model? The first thing I learned as a model – to be soft infront of a camera, to know how to be someone else, diversify my movements. It was hard in the beginning but now I play, I speak, I can even dance infront of a camera. Everything can be learned !

How does your family feel about you modeling? My family sees almost all my pictures if they have an opportunity. I think they are proud (I hope), especially when magazines are interested in my pictures that I produced with the teams. It is important to feel support by the family when doing some things. I learned to love my body, I think we all know that does it mean, every woman needs to feel beautiful.

What’s your favorite / most memorable direction/advice a photographer has ever given to you?  The photographer directed me: “you have to play to be home”; and after that he said: “this expression does not suit you”. Overall all advices are very useful, that’s how we get advanced. I should say that it’s quite hard to act as if you are not acting and being natural. Not everybody is satisfied with their results but we must learn to accept advices, criticism. Practising some common expressions infront of a mirror helps a lot.

What are you doing to prepare yourself for a shoot? When I know I have a shoot, I hydrate my skin a lot! I do some sports and stretching though I know that the shoot will last more than 3 hours. I go to sleep early to have no marks on the face! The next morning I hydrate the skin that it would not be of concern when applying makeup, and then I focus on the theme of the shoot.

Charlotte, how do you stay in shape? Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise? I do some sports at least 2 to 3 times a week (when the schedule permits me). It may sound weird but I am not careful with my diet. I eat a lot in general but I do not eat much vegetables as a model should be eating (laughter)… I’ m happy to get fat with all the sweets I eat (ahahahahahah)…

Do you have other ambitions outside of modeling? When you’re not busy modeling, what are some of your favorite things to do? My passion outside of modeling – cars! I am so passionate about it that I work with cars (I deliver cars)… Yes, its rare for a girl… I’m a real boy. I also like video games (networking).

Is there anything you’d like to do in the future? Someone you’d like to work with or something you’d like to accomplish? In modeling I am already very pleased with the level at which I arrived, it fulfilled me already. I will continue to work on my expressions and my body language to further improve photos. I always want to give something back to my photos, and see my improvement

Tell us one thing about yourself people might find surprising. The most surprising thing is that I look different in reality than I look in my pictures. I think I lack a bit of confidence and many people ask me how it can be because I look so confident in my photos. In my opinion environment in which I work helps to maintain my confidence. On the other hand, I love myself very much but I have never depended on my appearance (laughter).

Where can viewers see more of your work? My professional images are posted on my Facebook: Charlotte Guilmot; and the rest, a little more personal on my Instagram: charlottemodeling.
